Casarsa 18.05.08, 50th years of Helos at Casarsa
On the heliport of "F. Baracca" it was held an Helishow for the fiftieth anniversary of Helos in town!
Sunday May 18th it was held at the “F. Baracca” airport of Casarsa della Delizia, an helishow organized by the 5th Regiment of the "Aviazione dell'Esercito" "Rigel" to celebrate the 50th years of chopper flying from the Fiuli Venezia Giulia's base (for this day it was also presented a commemorative patch, used at the top of this page...).

The exibition
Thanks to the personel of the 5th "Rigel" we could enter in the base on saturday 17th of May, during the visit we saw lots of the flying activities that would happen the day after during airshow with some extras like the arrival for the static show.
The organization was stunning and it was, for sure, able to show the capability of our army. For example, even if the wheater wasn't perfct, at least, the flying activities was intense and charming.By the way there was also a wide static show, comprising an A-109A Mk2 of the Police (10th Reparto Volo from Venice), A brand new army NH-90TTH (currently at Viterbo at the 1st regiment "Antares" AvEs), an old A-129A, a new A-129CBT with the new regiment insigna of the 5th Rigel, an A-109EOA (from the local regiment) an a beauty restore AB-47G2 from the "Vigili del Fuoco". This is only a short description of what you can see on display.
About the flying activities it was hard to ask for something better! Starting with the exibition of a single local A-129CBT that shown us the manoeuvrability and the power of the helo. It was then the turn of a couple of A-129CBT that shown some crossing passes. After that, there was a low pass from two ultra-light aircraft coming from the LaComina Airport. Followed by a counter-terror demo with two AB-205 and two A-129CBT (everyone from Casarsa), they were helped by some men of the 66th Infantry Regiment “Trieste” from Forli, part of the action was to discover and stop the vehicle of the fugitive by a couple of Mangusta's and then it was time to unload the soldiers from 2 AB-205. The Soldiers then gone to reach and ensure to the law the terrorist. Once that the demo was over the chopppers leave the area to an AB-205 that shown the fire-control abilities of the Huey, after that it was time for another AB-205 to perform a mountain first aid demo using the pulley.Indeed it was time for the last (of the day) solo display of an A-129 performed by the commander that push to limits the machine, even with a upside-down. To conclude the event, sorprising everybody, 17 choppers switched on (including 12 A-129CBT, 4AB-205 and an A-109EAO) that overfly the base to perform an amazing break right in front of the public, and then they come back to land.
Sunday May 18th, the airshow was public, and at the show there was also some civilian staff thet help somehow the regiment. Unlikely the weather was even worst than Saturday didn't helped but it didn't ruin the party, not only well organazied but also gained by the personel of Casarsa. Anyway we have to say Thanks to the men and women of the 5th "Rigel" that perform all the programm scheduled.
